Principles of operation
The Chain Bucket Sampler (CBS) is designed to extract a representative sample of granular material from a free falling flow of material in a closed pipe system. Representability of the sample is ensured by collecting a complete cross section of the free falling material.

The Chain Bucket Sampler (CBS) consists of one or more buckets that are secured to two hollow pin chains, suspended between the sprockets, so the bucket is movable in a horizontal direction. The sprockets are driven by one geared brake motor, which is directly connected to one of the shafts.
The design of the cutter is plant based and therefore custom made to fit the specific system. The parts that vary:
- The bucket that collects material in a certain quantity.
- The slot integrated in the bucket is one of two factors to determine the quantity of collected material.
- The other factor is the velocity of the chain drive which is directly proportional to the quantity of collected material.
- The length of the machine is determined by the distance between the two drive axles.
